I've started to rework my NaNoWriMo piece from this year.  The process is painstakingly slow and at times frustrating.  But finding the hidden gems amongst the pages of half formed ideas is definitely worth it.  I keep reminding myself of the importance of editing in the writing process.
So far, I've manged to edit three chapters of Ash Reborn.  These have been posted over on JukePop Serials, a fantastic site that is celebrating the resurgence of serials as form of publishing. You can check out the world of Dragons and adventure I've started to craft here.
Happy reading.

Writers' Group and Accountability
I joined a local writing group a few years ago.  We meet once a month consistently and occasionally have additional critique meetings when a member requests them.  This group has been a great support system in encouraging my writing practice.
In addition to being supportive, being part of a writers group that includes a 'check-in' system has helped in providing me a system of accountability. Each meeting we go around the table and talk about what we're working on and recent accomplishments. This simple act of talking about my writing provides me with huge motivation. The competitive person in me always wants to have something to share -- even if it's just the beginnings of a project. I write because I feel compelled to. But, sometimes the added pressure of 'check-in' is a great motivator.

Starting Out
I have created this blog as part of my continued growth and dedication to fiction writing.  I have blogged regularly for years at Historical Reminiscents about my historical practice and public history.  As I've devoted more time to my fiction writing I found myself wanting to blog about the experience, the process, and the general act of writing.  This blog is the result of that desire.
